The inspiration behind the brand...

I am from The Bronx, New York, but I grew up in Walterboro, South Carolina.  The one thing that these two completely opposite places have in common is, you had to have and maintain your commitment to everything in order to succeed at anything. 

 

Growing up and watching my parents start businesses became my early inspiration to have my own company.  My brother Kenny and I were very supportive and equally critical of one another, however, we always inspired each other to do our thing.  So you could imagine how inspired I was when he graduated from college and then joined the military. 

 

I followed his footsteps by joining the military and receiving my first college degree as well.  I also began working on my second degree in Public Relations and Marketing.  Having an entrepreneurial mind, and a dream to own a company is how Sakab Watches came to life. 

 

Who is Sakab?

 

"... it is a very organic representation of a family away from your family."

 

When I chose the name of the company, I wanted something that would embody what has always been an inspiration for me.  An inspiration that would capture a culture and start a movement.  This inspiration has always been my family.

 

My wife and I share three children and this is where the name Sakab came from.  It was also very important to me that my brother, Kenny, was onboard with me to head the company. 

 

While Sakab does not represent any one person or one thing, it is a very organic representation of a family away from your family.  Our first collection will be the Defender Collection because we feel like everyone has a defender inside of them.  The watches in this collection will have their own personality and feel.  All of the following collections will represent a dynamic similarity and symbolism that you will find in families everywhere.  When you purchase a Sakab Watch you are not a customer you become part of the family.

 

Why watches?

 

"I realized that in order to get what I wanted I had to create it."

 

I was asked this more than anything mostly because no one really knew that I had a passion for watches.  My collection of watches was very respectable and growing, but I started wanting things in a watch that I was not finding. 

 

I was in search of a different style, shape, feel, and more importantly something that was affordable.  It was at this point that I realized that in order to get what I wanted I had to create it.  While cost is always a factor, I wanted to create a brand that is in line with the top of the line luxury brands, is available to everyone at a lower price point, and does not compromise the quality and integrity that you would expect.
